Overcoming Panic
Attacks -What you
need to know to find instant
relief.
In order to start overcoming panic attacks you need be willing to be very courageous. You may be
scared out of your mind but trust me panic attacks are not as dangerous as they appear unless you let them
take over your life. If you've already seen a doctor and he told you that you're physically okay, then
you're not dying no matter how much your body tells you so.
Then why do I feel like I’m about to go crazy or like I’m about to
die a painful death?!!
When you start to have a panic attack, here’s what’s going happing in your body. For some
unknown reason or maybe due prolonged internalized stress your body's physical "fight or flight" response
was triggered and your body simply began to respond physically to prepare to face or to run from possible mortal
danger.
This fight or flight response is actually a good thing because it increases our chance of
survival in life and death situations. The problem with panic attacks is
that there is no real mortal danger, but your body reacts as if there were.
In
a panic attack, you’re body is reacting as if there were a life and death
situation.
For example, imagine that you were going about your business when suddenly a stranger
appeared and wanted to attack you with a large knife. If you thought or felt that you were about to be
murdered, how would your body physically respond in that situation?
If you've ever been in a dangerous situation or in a fight then you're already experienced the
physical symptoms in your body. You would have short breaths, your
heart would be pounding so hard it would feel like it was about to come out of your chest. You would also
get feelings in your legs like they were shaking or weak.
These bodily reactions and sensations are would be due to the surge of adrenaline released
and flowing through your body. This is what prepares your body to fight or run for
survival. It would also make your thinking and sense of
perception very acute and ready to analyze many “what if…” scenarios in order to survive.
You would even start to sweat and your mind would begin to calculate a ton of possible exit
strategies to escape from getting killed. If you felt there was no escape, then you would probably try to fight the
killer “tooth and nail” to avoid being killed.
The first panic attack is the most
terrifying.
That's why it is so freakin scary when you experience a panic attack for the first
time. You feel like you’re about die and you have an intense sense of
dread and doom; but your body is fooling you. There was no apparent real danger. It’s was false
alarm! Understanding this is one of the primary keys to overcoming panic attacks.
After the fist panic attack, don’t let panic attack disorder take
hold.
If you don't respond properly to the first few panic attacks you may become very afraid when the
next one is coming. Over time you can become hyper vigilant over any minor pain, discomfort, or physical
uneasiness which in turn leads to more panic attacks and into panic attack disorder. In the end it can turn into a
vicious circle where fear of a panic attack is what causes the attacks. That cycle must not be allowed to
start.
If you are already caught up in the panic attack cycle, the good news is that it can be broken
and stopped, which means that you can get better. So many people have allowed panic
attacks to become a regular part of their lives and feel that there is no hope. Don’t let that be you! You will get
better. There is hope!
This is an important key to ending panic
attacks.
In order to start feeling better you must convince yourself that the sensations of panic are just
that, "sensations," with no real danger. Now you might be thinking to yourself, "Yeah, but what if
there is something physically wrong with me?" Well then go the doctor and get checked. In fact, I
encourage it.
However, I am assuming that most of you who are reading this have probably already had a panic
attack. And if that's true then it freaked you out so bad that you probably already went to the doctor and they
told you they couldn't find anything physically wrong with you. Am I right?
I know because when I had my panic attack, I totally lost it and ended up in the emergency
room thinking that I might be having a heart attack. Well, even though several doctors told me that there was
nothing wrong with me, I still couldn't convince myself that I was okay.
That damn panic attack got me so spooked that I even ended up paying $400 to get a heart scan.
The guy there told me I had an ideal heart. That it was perfect! Can you believe that? Needless to say,
I was relieved to know my was in good shape.
Anyway, I say all this so that when you feel the sensations of a panic attack, don't resist
them. Realize that it’s just your “fight or flight” response being triggered and that you're not in real
danger. That's one of the simplest solutions to overcoming panic attacks. Simply learn to ride them out
knowing that you’re going to be okay, and in most cases they fade within minutes.
Remember, when a panic attack starts, just breath slowly and remember that no matter how real the
danger feels, it's just bodily sensations, and by themselves body sensations can’t hurt you. It's
possible to overcome panic attacks if you’re willing to face your fears and the causes behind them.
In many cases panic attacks are cause by chronic stress and worry. Are you getting enough sleep?
Are you suppressing rage or anger that you need to resolve? Is your life totally out of balance or out of control?
Before I had my panic attack, I honestly thought these issues were no big deal, but I found out
otherwise. Perhaps your panic attack was your body’s way of telling you that the way you’re handling
life isn’t working.
Overcoming panic attacks with natural means is possible, but not
always.
If these basic steps don’t help you then I suggest that your try more advanced natural methods
and if those don’t work then you may need to be evaluated or treated by a professional. In certain circumstance
medication can make a positive difference, especially if you have some type of chemical
inbalance. Only a doctor can tell you that for sure.
Some people mistakenly believe that taking medication is shameful or a sign of weakness. Hey if
you’re brain is not functioning well and medication is what you need, then take it. Don’t let pride get in the way
of feeling and functioning well. Think of it this way.
Nobody makes a big deal out of taking medications for diabetes, back pain, etc. The brain is an organ in the
body just like any other organ and sometimes more than natural methods is needed to find relief.
However, with that being said, I would suggest first trying to cure your panic attacks with
natural methods, especially if you're nervous about seeing a therapist or about taking medications. There are many
products on the internet about how to overcome panic attacks and anxiety but most of them don’t
work.
A very effective product that I recommend for overcoming panic attacks is
Panic Away. It has been around for many years, is recommended by many
medical professionals and has helped thousands of people all over the world get cured of panic attacks and
anxiety. It's perfect if you need help to deal with both panic attacks and general anxiety
.
